The ongoing project Uniformity-Animality takes its starting point from the idea in Mayan Cosmology that our beings are made up of three interconnected selves: the waking self, the sleeping self and the animal self. The project is lead by artist Per Huttner in close collaboration with fashion designer Emilia Rota and they have travelled to meet with representatives of current Mayan society in Guatemala and El Salvador in order to find different understandings and connections to nature. Together they reflect on how dialogues between our rational selves and other potential and existing selves can or could co-exist. It is a journey into sensuality, sexuality, power, patterns of the dominated and the dominating as well as how expressions of fear seep out in our everyday existence.
Part of the project has been shown publicly in the exhibition Wayob. More research is planned for 2017-18.
